Broughton 55, Wakefield 47: Broughton’s Jeremy Robinson and Tyler Palmer each had a team-leading 10 points in the Cap-8 Conference victory. Wakefield’s Aaron Burress and Kyle Lim had 12.
Raleigh Charter 67, Franklin Academy 58: Raleigh Charter broke open a close game in the second half, after both teams were tied after a quarter. Jacob Schuster led Raleigh Charter with 22 points, while John Schuster added 18 as the only two players in double figures from their team. Franklin’s Taylor Shealy led the game with 25, and Nick Hughes added 10.
St. David’s School 91, Trinity Academy 47: St. David’s saw four players finish in double figures, going 18-3 for the regular season. The state tournament starts this week. Robbie O’Han led the Warriors with 21 points in the regular-season finale. Ben Brown and Kris Monroe scored 19 apiece. Matt Nunnally added 11.
Athens Drive 62, Holly Springs 50: Athens Drive overcame a first-quarter deficit to win the game. Xzavier McNeil led the Jaguars with 15 points in a balanced scoring effort. Michael Armstrong added 12. D.J. Robertson put in 11 and Joe Sykes contributed 10.
Southeast Raleigh 46, East Wake 44: The Bulldogs pulled out a close conference victory on the road, holding East Wake to 16 points in the second half. Southeast’s John Baker IV and Malik Ford each scored 11.
Broughton 56, Wakefield 44: The Capitals scored 24 points in the third quarter to pull away from Wakefield. Broughton’s Katie Wadsworth led the game with 18 points, and her teammate Marcy Waters followed with 11. Jada Peeples led the Wolverines with 14 points, and Camryn Jones added 10.
Enloe 68, Sanderson 49: Enloe put up double digits in each quarter, including a 20-point fourth to beat Sanderson for its third win of the year. Shaiyana Brown led the game with 17 points for the Eagles, while Brianna Lee (12) and Biance’ Wilder (10) rounded off double figures. Faith Hoover paced the Spartans with 13 points. Nicole Mitchell had 12, Ajane Williams added 10.
Cardinal Gibbons 81, Person 49: Gibbons outscored Person, 20-6, in the first quarter. Crusaders’ Olivia Smith led the game with 20 points. Entering the game, she was only 11 points away from a school record in points scored.
Rolesville 42, Harnett Central 34: The Rams picked up a convincing conference win, pulling themselves to .500 in the league. Jaylin Powell and Valencia Carroll each had 11.
St. David’s School: Warriors senior running back Melvin Briggs was selected for the 2016 USA Football U-18 Select Team, which competed against Ontario’s team in the 2016 International Bowl Friday in Arlington, Texas. Briggs finished with a touchdown in the victory.
