Krispy Kreme, HKonJ to bring crowds downtown Saturday

The Krispy Kreme Challenge charity run and the “HKonJ” social-justice march will both take place downtown Saturday morning.


What: HKonJ, or Historic Thousands on Jones Street, a march by people who want to influence public policy on Medicaid expansion, universal health care and other issues.

When and where: Marchers gather at 9 a.m. in front of Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, proceed at 10 a.m. to a rally at the northern end of Fayetteville Street in front of the State Capitol.

Krispy Kreme Challenge

What: Krispy Kreme Challenge, a 5-mile, round-trip run with a stop in the middle to eat a dozen doughnuts. The annual event raises big bucks for North Carolina Children’s Hospital.

When and where: Race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Bell Tower at N.C. State, wends its way to Krispy Kreme on Person Street, pauses for gorging, then returns to the tower.
