Scavenger Haunt

Saint Raphael Catholic School will host its Second Annual Scavenger Haunt from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 5815 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. The event is for children in pre-school through fifth-grade and their parents. Call 919-865-5754 to RSVP.

Student earns scholarship

Maxwell Wlodarczak has earned the N.C. Marvin Collins Planning Award from the Department of Geography and Planning at Appalachian State University. A native of Raleigh, Wlodarczak is a senior planning major with a minor in sustainable development. He founded the organization Appalachian State Students for New Urbanism, and serves on the Boone Planning Commission.

School open house

• Thales Academy in Wake Forest will host an open house for pre-K through fifth-grade from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Pre-K open house will be at 3115 Heritage Trade Drive; the K-1 open house will be at 3121 Heritage Trade Drive; and the grade 2-5 open house will be at 3106 Heritage Trade Drive. Superhero art show

The Red Gallery is seeking original work, action poses, comic pages, original heroes, famous characters and other superhero-related artwork for a superhero art show in honor of the life of Isaiah Langston. The Red Gallery needs the artwork by Monday, Oct. 27. The opening celebration will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at 101 N. Main St., Rolesville. The event will include candy, cosplay, contests and more. Proceeds from sales will go to Langston’s family to assist in any expenses and to start a scholarship in his name. Food action plan

A Hope Charter Elementary School action group, in cooperation with Household of Faith Ministries and Raleigh Mennonite Church, will organize and assemble food donations for school families Nov. 7.
