Call for writers, photographers

‘Lori White: Barns & Cricks’
Tipping Paint Gallery will feature “Lori White: Barns & Cricks” at an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 6, at 311 W. Martin St., Raleigh. The exhibit will run through May 28.
‘Lawn & Disorder’ comedy concert
The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts will present a comedy concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at 405 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest. Carolina Ballet Spring Shakespeare Festival
Carolina Ballet will present several performances to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death. To buy tickets, go to www.carolinaballet.com or call 919-719-0900. Free tickets will be available to high school students with valid ID. Performances and locations include:

The “Faces” exhibit will be on display in May at Local Color Gallery, 311 W. Martin St., Raleigh.
Front Porch Art Walk & Sale
The Oakwood neighborhood will host the eighth annual Front Porch Art Walk & Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14, starting at the intersection of Franklin and North Blount streets. Homeowners and businesses will host more than 40 local artists on their porches and in their yards. The rain date is Sunday, May 15.
Artwork of Iraqi refugees
William Peace University will host an exhibit featuring 12 artists who fled their homes in Iraq and have relocated to the United States and Canada. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 13; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15.
