Daniel Michael, age 65, passed Thursday, September 26th at Long Island State Veterans Home in New York after a long battle with illness.
Daniel is survived by loved ones including Carolyn Michael; a daughter, Katherine Michael; a stepson, Nat Stewart; and a stepdaughter, Suzanne Saxon. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Gina Lupo, Mateo Martinez, Bryce Choco, Michael Stewart, Mason Stewart, Joseph Was and Jacob Was. Daniel was born in Chicago, IL in 1949. He moved to North Carolina during his high school years and pursued music ultimately playing seven different instruments. He was a member of the band “The Riviereas” and had the opportunity to play with many famous Motown artists. He attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During his time there, he left for Vietnam and was a member of the 101st Airborne Rangers. He returned after his duty to graduate from UNC with a major in English Arts and a minor in Music. Later in life he pursued a career in sales and worked for major publishing companies in New York and Chicago. He will be remembered as a loving person with an enormous personality. Always able to give you the facts or tell a great joke. Either way someone you wouldn’t forget. The service for Daniel will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at 2:00 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church Melbourne in Melbourne, FL.
