Youth Baseball, Softball & T-Ball

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department will accept applications for youth baseball, softball and T-ball for boys ages 5-17 and girls ages 5-15 through Saturday, Feb. 28. A participant’s eligibility is determined by his or her age on April 30, 2015, and a birth certificate is required for new participants. The fee is $40 for Wake Forest residents and $80 for non-residents. Online registration is available at www.wakeforestnc.gov/youth-athletics.aspx.

Adult Men’s Spring Softball League

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department will accept applications for the Adult Men’s Spring Softball League through Saturday, Feb. 28. League play is scheduled to begin the week of March 16, and games will be played primarily on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Registration forms are available at Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., and online at www.wakeforestnc.gov/adult-athletics.aspx. The entry fee is $550 per team, and the league is limited to Class E teams and lower. Dream League Baseball

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department will accept applications for Dream League Baseball for special-needs children ages 5 and older through Saturday, Feb. 28. Designed for both boys and girls, the adaptive baseball league will meet on Saturday mornings from late-April through early-June. A player’s eligibility is determined by his or her age on April 30, 2015, and a birth certificate is required for new participants. The fee is $40 for Wake Forest residents and $80 for non-residents. Online registration is available at www.wakeforestnc.gov/dream-league-baseball.aspx.

Tennis coaches needed

The U.S. Tennis Association Junior Team Tennis is seeking coaches for JTT city teams for the 2015 spring season. Practices will begin Feb. 27, and the end-of-season tournament will be May 3. For details, go to RaleighNC.gov.

Sponsors Needed for Youth Baseball & Softball

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is seeking sponsors for its 2015 Youth Baseball and Softball season. Team sponsorship levels range from $100 to $1,600. Contributions are tax-deductible. Karate classes

Karate Kenpo classes are offered from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for youth, and 7 to 8:30 p.m. for adults, at Millbrook Exchange Park, 1905 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh. Monthly fee is $45. The instructor is Bill Parsons of the Triangle Kenpo Institute.

Pickleball open play

Play pickleball from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays on the tennis courts at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St., Wake Forest. Pickleball is played on a badminton court with a lowered net, a perforated plastic ball and wood paddles. It is easy to learn but can develop into a competitive game for experienced players.

Adult Pickleball League

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department has a new pickleball league for adults. Registration is available at wakeforestnc.recdesk.com, or at the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., or the Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St. The entry fee is $35; space is limited to the first 48 registrants ages 18 and older. The Wake Forest Pickleball League will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays at the Ledford Center, 120 S. Wingate St., located on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. League play will continue through mid-April.
