Food

Barbecue plates will be on sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. The cost is $7 per plate, with takeout available.

Fall events

A fall festival is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteville St., Clayton. The festival will feature free food and games.

Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Wilson’s Mills Christian Church, at 179 Fire Department Road, Wilson’s Mills. A short program in the sanctuary will begin at 5:30 p.m.

A holiday bazaar is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 8, in Wesley Hall at Centenary United Methodist Church, 140 E. Market St., Smithfield.

A Christmas Shopping Expo is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Grace Community Assembly of God, 923 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield. More than 40 vendors will sell their wares, including jewelry, candles, handmade soaps, home decor, good, kitchen gadgets, scarves, handbags, personalized gifts and items for babies and children.

Hallelujah Night is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Interstate Ministries, 4584 U.S. 70 Business Clayton and Smithfield. The celebration will offer food, candy and games.

Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Bethesda Baptist Church, 4967 U.S. 70 Business West between Clayton and Smithfield. The event will feature candy, inflatables, popcorn, door prizes and a hayride.

Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. Enjoy treats and games. Wear a costume if you want.

A fall festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, 2595 Lassiter Road, Four Oaks. Chicken pastry, green beans, sweet potatoes and desserts will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $6, with takeout available. An auction will run from 7 to 11 p.m. During the auction, the church youth will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and sweets.

A fall festival is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Baptist Center Church, 2163 Ranch Road, Clayton. The festival will feature a bounce house, games, candy and a hot dog dinner.

For seniors

The JOY Connection of First Presbyterian Church will meet at noon Thursday, Nov. 6, at the church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. Pottery collector Art Andrews will talk about Cole pottery. To attend, call the church at 919-934-0988.

Support groups

Horne Memorial United Methodist Church in Clayton will workshops for adults and children coping with divorce. “Surviving the Holidays” and “Surviving the Holidays 4 Kids” are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the church, 121 E. “Surviving the Holidays,” a support seminar, is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3414 N. Shiloh Road, Garner. The seminar is for those grieving the loss of a loved one or going through divorce during the holidays. The seminar is free, and child care is available on request. The Hickory Grove Bluegrass Boys will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 5312 Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community.

LOGOS, a faith-based program of education and fun for children and youth, has launched at Providence Presbyterian Church, 14664 N.C. 210 near McGee’s Crossroads. Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church in Selma offers Mother’s Morning Out, a free child-care program. While moms run errands or go to appointments, their children take part in Bible stories, activities, crafts, music and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays through May 20.
