Afternoon storms gave way to a sunny evening Friday for the class of 2015’s commencement at Smithfield-Selma High School. Family, friends and other supporters filled Charles T. Tucker Stadium to cheer on the 239 graduates. Together, the class earned a total $2.3 million of scholarships, surpassing last year’s grads by $500,000. On a somber note, those gathered held a moment of silence for students Robert Naughton and Alan Peedin, who were hit and killed by an Amtrak train in January.
