Neuse Charter School celebrated the graduation of it second senior class on June 5.
All 34 seniors completed the graduation requirements, and 96 percent have been accepted by a college or university. In all, the graduates are headed to 26 schools, including the University of Alabama, Auburn University, N.C. State University, East Carolina University and Southern Illinois University. They will take close to $1 million in scholarships with them.
Skyler O’Conner was the valedictorian of the class of 2015. Aggie Karafas was the salutatorian.
“This class deserves special recognition, not just for their academic prowess, but for what I have seen them demonstrate on a daily basis as students – leadership, problem-solving ability, teamwork and collaboration, and respect for themselves and all others,” said Julie Jailall, the school’s executive director. “These graduates emulate what every school would want for their graduating seniors.”
The school will begin construction this summer on additional classrooms and parking lot.
