Fall Events Calendar

Here are some upcoming fall events in Johnston County.

Taste of Carolina – 6:30-9 p.m. Nov. 7 at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton. Restaurants will serve samples of their fare. The evening will also feature a cash bar and a silent auction of numerous items, including a wooden train made by Claude Monsees. Tickets are $35, with proceeds going to the Woman’s Club of Clayton. Clayton Fear Farm Daytime – Saturdays and Sundays in October on the Boyette Family Farm, 1620 Loop Road, Clayton. The child-friendly farm will offer a pumpkin patch, a cotton maze, cow milking, pedal karts for the pond and other activities. Clayton Fear Farm – Friday and Saturday nights in October, plus most nights at the end of the month, on the Boyette Family Farm, 1620 Loop Road, Clayton. The farm features seven haunted attractions, including a cotton maze. For more information, call 919-553-0016 or visit boyettefamilyfarms.com.

Historical Ghost Walk – 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Riverside Cemetery in downtown Smithfield. Re-enactors tell stories about interesting people from Johnston County’s past. To learn more, call the Johnston County Heritage Center at 919-934-2836.

Maze Dayz and Super Saturdayz – Lazy O Farm, 3583 Packing Plant Road, Smithfield. Activities vary but include hayrides, barnyard visits and a maze. For more information, call 919-934-1132.

Fall Festival – 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Smith’s Nursery, 443 Sanders Road, Benson. Enjoy pumping picking, hayrides, farm animals and more. Admission is $5. For details, call 919-934-1700.

Wilson’s Mills Pumpkin Festival – 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, near the Wilson’s Mills Town Hall, 101 Railroad St. The day will feature vendors, children’s activities, a dunking booth, music, food, a car show and a 5K run/walk to benefit the Backpack Buddies program at Wilson’s Mills Elementary.
