Music for lunch
This summer’s “Music for the Lunch Bunch” series continues at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. Cellists Nate Leyland and Lisa Ferebee will perform.
Leyland trained at the Manhattan School of Music and is principal cellist for the N.C. Opera, the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and the Tar River Symphony Orchestra.
Ferebee was co-principal cellist of the National Philharmonic for more than 22 years and currently freelances with the N.C. Symphony and several smaller ensembles.

Tweens pottery – One session of the six-week class will meet from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Mondays starting July 22. Another will meet from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays starting July 23. Children ages 9-12 will work with clay and learn about hand-building techniques, decorating and glazing, with an introduction to the potter’s wheel. The cost is $65 for residents, $80 for nonresidents.
Variety show in Selma
