Help for the needy

Wilson’s Mills Advent Christian Church has launched a community ministry, H.E.L.P. Station. H.E.L.P. is short for helping, encouraging, loving and praying. The ministry will guide people to community resources such as food banks and assistance programs. Also, it will help people apply for jobs and direct them to health and wellness sources, including prescription drug programs. Starting March 21, the ministry will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month at the church, 676 Main St., Wilson’s Mills. Also, people may leave prayer requests in the box near the church sign.

Christ Community United Methodist will give away food from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 14, at the church, 1082 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. Recipients should bring their ID card with them.

Gospel music

A gospel sing is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, 1232 Hickory Grove Church Road, Four Oaks. The following will perform: The Hockadays, Kylie Medlin, River Song Trio, The Pea Shellers, Vince Martinez, the Hickory Grove Quartet, the Hickory Grove Bluegrass Boys and Emme Anne Thompson. The evening will include a silent auction. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

An Ushers Song Fest is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2861 Brogden Road, Smithfield. A number of groups will sing.

New youth pastor

The Rev. Marvin Ownley is the new youth pastor at Stevens Chapel Baptist Church, 2850 Stevens Chapel Road, Smithfield. The church’s youth meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Programs, services

A program titled “Ushers Uniformed for Christ” is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of Deliverance, 114 Lakeview Drive, Four Oaks.

The Rev. Robert Hood, pastor of St. Mark Church of Christ in Farrow, will speak at 7:30 p.m. March 18-20 at St. Peter’s Church of Christ, 1011 E. Massey St., Smithfield.

A program titled “The Twelve Tribes of Israel” is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Mitchener Memorial Baptist Church, 911 Blount St., Smithfield.

A celebration of Friends & Family Day will get under way at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. The Watchman Quartet will sing. Lunch will follow the 11 a.m. worship service.

Revival services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 9-13 at Mt. Livingstone United Holy Church, 403 Ethel St., Selma. Evangelist Vernon Mines of Newport News, Va., will speak

Revival services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 9-11 at Mt. Zion Bible Church of God, 309 W. Edwards St., Princeton. Evangelist Hattie Lofton of Smithfield will speak.

Revival services are scheduled for 6 p.m. March 8 and 7 p.m. March 9-11 at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 5312 Meadowbrook Road in the Meadow community. The Rev. Della Grace Hargis will speak.

Financial Peace

Starting March 22, Grace Episcopal Church in Clayton will offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sundays. The church is at 111 Lee Court. For more information, or to sign up, call Pastor John Gibson at 919-553-2810.
