Egg hunt, lunch

An Easter celebration for kids is scheduled for noon Saturday, April 4, at Sharon Baptist Church, 116 Britt St., Smithfield. An egg hunt will follow a free hot dog lunch.

Here’s the schedule for Holy Week services at Grace Episcopal Church, 111 Lee Court, Clayton: 10:30 a.m. March 29, Communion with procession of the palms; 7:15 p.m. April 2, Communion and foot washing; 7:15 p.m. April 3, passion of Jesus; and 10:30 a.m. April 5, celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Easter services are scheduled for 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 5, at Believers Baptist Church, 100 Southerland Road, Clayton. The church will serve breakfast at 9 a.m.

Gospel music

The Maples Family will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 4633 U.S. 70 East, Princeton. Admission is free.

Programs, services

A celebration of Family & Friends Day will get underway at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 5, at Avery Grove AME Zion Church on Freedom Road near Smithfield. Revival services are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 6-8. The Rev. Otis T. Millan will speak all four days.

Overseer E.J. Convington is celebrating his 33rd anniversary as pastor of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of Deliverance, 114 Lakeview Drive, Four Oaks. Services in his honor are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 23 and 6 p.m. April 24 at the church. For more information, call 919-793-3008.

The quarterly Bible Church of God Union will take place at 11 a.m. March 28 and 9:45 a.m. March 29 at Jackson Grove Church, 533 J Morgan Road, Rennert.

Pastor Jimmy Frederick of Cedar Grove Church in Princeton will speak at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Small Chapel Church, 8055 U.S. 701 North, Newton Grove.

A celebration of Friends & Family Day will get under way at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. The Watchman Quartet will sing. Lunch will follow the 11 a.m. worship service.

Help for the needy

Wilson’s Mills Advent Christian Church has launched a community ministry, H.E.L.P. Station. H.E.L.P. is short for helping, encouraging, loving and praying. The ministry will guide people to community resources such as food banks and assistance programs. Also, it will help people apply for jobs and direct them to health and wellness sources, including prescription drug programs. The ministry is available from 9 to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month at the church, 676 Main St., Wilson’s Mills. Also, people may leave prayer requests in the box near the church sign.

Financial Peace

Starting March 22, Grace Episcopal Church in Clayton will offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sundays. The church is at 111 Lee Court. For more information, or to sign up, call Pastor John Gibson at 919-553-2810.

For young people

For moms

Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church in Selma offers Mother’s Morning Out, a free child-care program. While moms run errands or go to appointments, their children take part in Bible stories, activities, crafts, music and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays through May 20.
