Rev. Jesse Ray Waugh, 64, of Clayton peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday. December 12, 2015. Jesse was born in Burlington, NC on November 9, 1951 to Julius Harvey Waugh, Jr. and Julia David Waugh.Jesse graduated from Campbell University in 1974 with a B.S. Degree in Music Education. He also earned his Masters of Church Music in 1978 from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He faithfully served as a Baptist Minister in North and South Carolina in the areas of church music, education, and senior adult ministries for 44 years.He is survived by Sharon Sills Waugh, his wife of 44 years, his two daughters, Megan Shaner (Jeremy) of Smithfield, NC and Sommer Reeder (Joseph) of Columbia, NC, his three grandchildren, Ivan, Micah, and Miranda, his brothers, J. David Waugh (Jane) of Jackson, MS and Phillip Waugh (Cindy) of Franklin, TN, and his sister, Anitabeth Jaite (Betty) of Leland, NC.Services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Smithfield, NC at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parrish Hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Cir., Raleigh, NC 27607, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 218 S.
