Your Letters: Let’s not confuse God and country

Freedom of – and from – religion

Jesus said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.” Ned Walsh’s point in his guest column was that Christian Dominionists are like Muslim extremists in that they want God and Caesar to be one.

As to Paul Olsen’s statement in his letter in the April 26 edition that ours is one nation under God (not Allah), Allah is Arabic for God, just as Gott is German for God and Dieu is French for God. All of these refer to the same higher power. To believe this is to believe in freedom of religion and freedom from religion.
