Lancaster Charity Classic is Oct. 2-3
The 20th annual Neal Lancaster-Four Oaks Bank Charity Classic golf tournament will be held Oct. 2-3 at the Country Club of Johnston County. A dinner, auction and reverse raffle will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. The golf tournament is Oct. 2 with 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. tee times. Proceeds benefit the Johnston Community College Foundation.
The JCC Foundation is celebrating 20 years hosting the Neal Lancaster Charity Classic. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $845,000 to support the mission and goals of JCC. The event will feature special appearances by Lancaster and Clarence Rose, a professional golfer from Goldsboro.

Pirates sweep Spartans
Corinth Holders downed Smithfield-Selma, 25-12, 25-19, 25-20, in volleyball Thursday.
Haley Stancil and Jamie Turner had eight kills each in the win for the Pirates. Katelyn Leach notched three aces for Corinth Holders and Samantha Payne had 17 digs. The victory evened the Pirates’ overall (5-5) and conference (2-2) records.
Princeton tops Kenan
Princeton rolled by James Kenan in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-22) on Thursday to claim its 10th win of the season. Kasey Edwards had 11 kills in the win, while Taylor Carroll added seven.
