Swim with Santa

Bring a bathing suit and towel and join Santa for a little swim before he gets too busy with the Christmas Rush, on Friday, Dec. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at SRAC. SRAC members are free, and non-members are $5 for the first child and $3 for each additional child. Children under 5 require an adult in the pool with the child.

Grinch Stink, Stank, Stunk 5K Run & Jingle Bell Jog

The annual Grinch Stink, Stank, Stunk 5K Run & Jingle Bell Jog will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Smithfield. The race collects toys and raises funds to benefit Harbour House and the Johnston County DSS Angle Tree Project. The registration fee is one unwrapped new toy. Participants can come dressed as their favorite Who from Whoville as part of the costume contest. Dogs are also welcome. Register early at the Smtihfield Recreation and Aquatics Center or on the day of the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Grinch will arrive around 9:30 a.m. T-shirts are available to those who register by Nov. 24 for a $15 fee. Be a Smithfield Tadpole

Smithfield Tadpoles gives kids and their parents an opportunity to swim in the splash pool at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. Play groups are welcome and additional activities are offered for the kids as well. The price is $5 for one parent and tadpole and $3 for each additional tapdole. Aquatics, fitness programs

The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. For more information regarding classes, please call 934-1408. All classes are roughly an hour long.

Youth Basketball

Youth basketball for boys ages 4-18 and girls ages 4-15 (as of Jan. 1, 2015) will be offered through the Selma Parks and Recreation Department. Teams practice once a week throughout the season and games are played on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Practices will be at Selma Elementary School and/or Harrison Gymnasium. Home games will be played at Selma Middle School and/or Harrison Gym. The fee is $25-30. Register by Nov. 14.
