Fun and Fellowship Softball
Team registration for a Fun and Fellowship softball league with the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department runs Feb. 9 until March 6. Teams will play two games a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, beginning in April. The fee is $475 per team. Team packets will be available beginning Feb. 9.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Four sessions of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training will be held at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. Participants must be at least 15 years old, pass a pre-course swim test and attend all class sessions in full. The pre-course swim test includes a 300-yard swim with rhythmic breathing and breath control using freestyle or the breaststroke, a two-minute water tread using only your legs, and a distance swim after retrieving a brick in nine feet of water. The fee for the pre-course is $25. The class fee is $175-200.
Classes are set for four days (including 20 hours of instruction) from March 1-9, March 22-29, April 26 - May 3 and May 11-17. Sessions cannont be mixed. For times and other information, call 919-934-2148.

Be a Smithfield Tadpole
Smithfield Tadpoles gives kids and their parents an opportunity to swim in the splash pool at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. Play groups are welcome and additional activities are offered for the kids as well. The price is $5 for one parent and tadpole and $3 for each additional tapdole. Selma Cornhole League
The Selma Cornhole League is accepting teams until Friday, Jan. 23. The league will play indoors on Monday nights for eight weeks.

Beginner indoor soccer
The Selma Parks and Recreation Department is offering a co-ed non-competitive indoor soccer league for beginners. The league is for ages 4-12 (as of Jan. 1). Games will be played one weeknight a week beginning in February. The fee is $25-30. Register by Jan. 30.
Clayton Community Center Memberships
Memberships for use of the Clayton Community Center are available through the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department for residents of the Town of Clayton and non-residents. Non-residents rates vary from $50-160 yearly (depending on ages/numbers of family members), $8-20 monthly or $6-10 monthly. Residents fees are only $5 per year.

Youth spring baseball and softball
The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department offers T-Ball for ages 5-6 (as of July 31, 2015), Coach-Pitch baseball for ages 7-8 (as of May 1, 2015), Tar Heel Leagues baseball for ages 9-14 (as of May 1, 2015) and fast-pitch softball for ages 7-14 (as of Jan. 1, 2015).
Softball will begin in mid-March and baseball starts in mid-April. The seasons run until mid-June.
Registration for residents and family annual members runs Jan. 6 until Feb. 6 and open registration is from Jan. 21 until Feb. 3. The fee is $25-60.
Spring men’s softball
Men’s softball for ages 18 and up wil be offered through the Clayton Parks Department this spring. A minimum of six teams are needed for the league. The cost is $550 for the team, plus an additional $40 for non-residents of Clayton on the team roster. Registration is from Jan. 1 until Feb. 2 or until the league is full.
Spring adult soccer
Seven-on-seven soccer leagues for men and women will be offered by the Clayton Parks Dept. this spring. Two leagues are planned with matches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $350 per team, plus an additional $40 for non-residents of Clayton on the team roster. Registration is open from Jan. 5 until Jan. 2 or until the league is full.
