Youth basketball registration

Registration for youth basketball with the Smithfield Parks Dept. is has been extended through Oct. 18. for boys ages 5-18 and girls ages 5-14 (as of Dec. 31). The cost is $40 for Smithfield residents, $80 for others. Practices begin in November with games starting in December.

Aquatics, fitness programs

The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of aquatics classes and fitness programs. Visit SRAConline.com or call 934-1408 for more information. Some of the fitness offerings include Cycling, Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle, Piyo, Turbo Kick, Total Body, Tai Chi, Inferno Cycle, P90X and Cycle Fusion. For more information regarding classes, please call 934-1408. All classes are roughly an hour long.

Harrison Gym open play

Practice your moves, meet your friends, stay active and spend time with your family at the Harrison Gymnasium. Drop in for basketball with no reservations necessary. The court is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must sign in each time and present a photo ID. Play for ages 18 and over is available Sundays from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. Play for ages 55 and older is available on Fridays from 6-8 p.m. There is no charge for the Friday session.
