Princeton trio combines on no-hitter

Princeton’s Tanner Flowers, Matt Daughtry and Tyler Beasley combined on a five-inning no-hitter in baseball as the Bulldogs topped Goldsboro 20-1 on Wednesday. The trio combined for 13 strikeouts on the afternoon.

Waylon Woodall had a three-run double for Princeton, while Tyler Ricks had two two-run singles.

North Johnston blanks SSS in softball

North Johnston opened its softball season with an 11-0 win over Smithfield-Selma Wednesday night. The Panthers totaled 10 hits on the night, led by senior Kaylynn Batten’s 3-for-3 night with three RBIs.

Kelly White went 2-for-4 for the Panthers, while Emma Turner, Olivia Stewart, Olivia Narron, Meghan Sherrod and Sara Ward also had hits.

Turner didn’t allow a hit in her three innings of work on the mound.

New Hanover tops South Johnston

New Hanover downed South Johnston 7-3 in the Trojans’ baseball season opener on Tuesday in Wilmington. Nash Johnson went 3-for-4 for South in the loss, while Jack Raynor had two hits and two RBIs. The other South run scored on a Noah Bridges’ sacrifice fly.

Princeton stops North Johnston

Princeton opened its girls soccer season with an 8-1 victory over North Johnston on Wednesday. The Bulldogs scored five first-half goals.

Barrett Davis scored the North Johnston goal on an assist from Cassidy Dowling.
