Challenger Sports Soccer Camps
The Selma Parks and Recreation Department and Challenger Sports will offer soccer camps for boys and girls ages 3-16 from June 22-26. Camp groups are split by ages.
The First Kicks camp for ages 3-4 costs $78 and is from 9-10 a.m. daily; the Mini Soccer camp for ages 4-5 costs $91 and is from 10 until 11:30 a.m. A half-day camp (9 a.m. until noon) is $123 for ages 6-16. Golden Goal camp for ages 8-12 is from 1-3 p.m and costs $40. A half-day camp for ages 6-16 is available in the evenings (from 5:30 until 8:30) and costs $123. All camp participants will receive a soccer ball and a t-shirt. Register online at challengersports.com. Register by May 8 and receive a free soccer jersey.

Swim Stroke Clinic
Smithfield Stroke Clinics will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from April 13 until May 7. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke. Ages 10 and under train from 6-7 p.m.; ages 11 and up from 7-8 p.m. The cost is $55-65 with a 10 percent sibling discount.
State Wiffle Ball Tournament

Pickleball will be offered at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center from 2-4 p.m. on Fridays from May 8 until Aug. 7. Non-SRAC members must pay a $2 fee per session. Equipment is provided. Info: Tiffany at 919-934-2148, ext. 112.
SRAC Summer Camp
The Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center offers day-long summer camps (8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.) that include art, swimming, sports and outdoor fun. Ages are 5-12. The fee is $100-125 per week. Early drop off (7:30 a.m.) or late pick up (5:30 p.mm.) is an additional $25 per week. Weeks are June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31, Aug. 3-7 and Aug. 10-14.
Smithfield Kids at Play Camp
The Smithfield Kids at Play Camp will be held June 22-26 from 9-11 a.m. at Smith Collins Park. The Fee is $2 per day or $10 for the week. Each day of camp focuses on a different sport. An ice cream social is planned for Friday. Camp is limited to 20 participants.
Smithfield Softball Camp
The Smithfield Softball Camp will be held June 29 until July 2 from 9 a.m. until noon daily at Smithfield Community Park. Camp is for ages 7-16 and the fee is $60. (Checks made payable to Britney Smith.) Smith, a former SSS softball coach and player, will lead the camp staff.
Spartans Football Camp
The Spartans Football Camp will be held July 13-15 from 6-8 p.m. daily at the Smithfield-Selma High School football practice fields. The fee is $35, made payable to Wes Hill. Hill, the head football coach at SSS, will lead the camp staff. Camp is for ages 6-14.
Smithfield Soccer Camp
The Smithfield Soccer Camp for ages 5-14 is set for July 13-16 from 8:30 until 11 a.m. daily. The fee is $50, payable to Steve Brush. The camp will be held at the Smithfield Community Park soccer fields. Brush, a nationally certified coach, will lead the camp staff, which includes former Barton College players Morgan and Amber Brush.
Smithfield Tennis Camps
A tennis camp for ages 5-7 will be held July 29-31 from 6-7 p.m. at the Smithfield Community Park tennis courts. The fee is $30, made payable to Jimmy Jernigan. A camp for ages 8-14 will be held on the same days from 7 until 8:30 p.m. The fee for that age group is $50. Jernigan is a 30-year veteran tennis coach.
Free tennis clinics
The Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will offer two free one-hour tennis clinics for ages 5-16 at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at the Smithfield Community Park tennis courts and Saturday, May 9 at the Smith Collins Park Tennis Courts (502 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive). Smithfield-Selma High school tennis coach James Reid will be the lead instructor and racquets will be available to borrow.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Four sessions of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training will be held at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. Participants must be at least 15 years old, pass a pre-course swim test and attend all class sessions in full. The pre-course swim test includes a 300-yard swim with rhythmic breathing and breath control using freestyle or the breaststroke, a two-minute water tread using only your legs, and a distance swim after retrieving a brick in nine feet of water. The fee for the pre-course is $25. The class fee is $175-200. Classes are set for four days (including 20 hours of instruction) from April 26 - May 3 and May 11-17. Sessions cannont be mixed. Basketball Camp for ages 5-7
A basketball camp for ages 5-7 (boys and girls) will be held June 16-18 at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. Camp is from 9-11 a.m. daily. The fee is $40 or $45 on the first day of camp. The camp will be led by former area high school and middle school coach James Robinson.
Basketball camp for ages 7-14
A basketball camp for ages 7-14 (boys and girls) will be held June 22-25 at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. Camp is from 9 a.m. until noon daily. The fee is $65 or $75 on the first day of camp. The camp staff will be led by former area high school and middle school coach James Robinson and will also include former area college and high school players and coaches.
Smithfield Volleyball Camp
The annual Smithfield Volleyball Camp for girls ages 8-14 is set for June 29 until July1 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. daily at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center. The fee is $60. The camp staff will be led by former Clemson University player and area coach Kim Smith.
Be a Smithfield Tadpole
Smithfield Tadpoles gives kids and their parents an opportunity to swim in the splash pool at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. Play groups are welcome and additional activities are offered for the kids as well. The price is $5 for one parent and tadpole and $3 for each additional tapdole. Free MLB Pitch, Hit and Run Competition
A free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Clayton Community Park Field No. 3. Boys and girls (competing separately) in ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 (as of July 17) will have the opportunity to compete in the first of four levels of competition. 2015 Clayton Road Race
The Clayton 5K Road Race will be held Saturday, May 9, at 9 a.m. Register by May 5 for just $20 or $30 thereafter. Race day registration is from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. The tot trot fee for ages 6 and under is $5. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in six age groups. Ribbons go to all of the participants in the 0.1-mile tot trot. Registration forms are available online, the Clayton Community Center, Town hall and the Hocutt-Ellington Library. The race begins and ends at Town Hall.
Girls Volleyball Camp
A Volleyball Camp for girls ages 9-14 will be held at the Clayton Community Center gym from 9 a.m. until noon from June 16-19.. Basic skills and other fundamental basic game principals of volleyball will be the focus. The camp fee is $45 for residents and $90 for non-residents.
Weekly Baseball Camps Two half-day instructional baseball camps will focus on the fundamentals of the game with college coaches from William Peace University at the East Clayton Community Park in July. The camps will help participants enhance their skills, while going through drills and game situations. A camp for ages 7-10 will be held July 20-24 and a camp for ages 11-4 is July 27-31. Camp runs from 9 a.m. until noon each day. The camp fee is $100 for residents $130 for others.
Two-day Keys to Hitting Baseball Camp
Two-day three-hour baseball hitting clinics are planned for April 27-28 (for ages 11-14) and April 29-30 (for ages 7-10) at East Clayton Community Park. The clinic will help participants work on the basics of the swing and mechanics of swing movement. The instructor will be Chris Duty, head coach at William Peace University. Camp runs from 6:30 until 8 p.m. each night. The cost is $45 for residents, $60 for others.

Summer Playground Program
The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Playground Program runs from June 15 until Aug. 14 from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays. Registration is now open. The fee is $60-110 per week plus a $25 registration fee. There is a 10 percent discount for multiple siblings. The Summer Playground Program features daily activities including indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, gardening, and many more activities. Campers will need to bring lunch, two snacks and drinks. Our Summer Camp is mainly outdoors, weather permitting.
Tennis Camps planned for summer
Two tennis camps with the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department will be held July 27-31 (a Quickstart camp for ages 7-10) and Aug. 3-7 (a camp for ages 11-16) at Clayton Community Park. The camps run from 9 a.m. until noon daily and if a rain day is needed, it will be held on Saturday of that week. The fee is $60 for residents, $75 for others.

Clayton Community Center Memberships
Memberships for use of the Clayton Community Center are available through the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department for residents of the Town of Clayton and non-residents. Non-residents rates vary from $50-160 yearly (depending on ages/numbers of family members), $8-20 monthly or $6-10 monthly. Residents fees are only $5 per year.
