Why Belmont Abbey? “Coach (John) Keating just had a huge impact with me from the first time I met him at his summer prospects camp last July. Yes, the campus is pretty and the town of Belmont is cool, but Coach Keating, being a man of strong values, made the biggest impression on me.”

Notable: Chason was a four-year starter for Corinth Holders, as a goalkeeper for his freshman and sophomore years, then moving back to the centerback defensive position as a senior. … He will play in the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game July 20 in Greensboro, after earning all-conference and all-region honors as a senior. … The Pirates went 20-1 and won the Two Rivers 3A Conference title and the JUSA Cup. “What I’ll remember most is just being able to play with the boys I’ve grown up with, all of the starting 11 in fact, and having the success we have,” Chason said. … He wants to see the field better to help his play in college.
