Archer Lodge Fire 10U tryouts

Indoor youth soccer at UNC Pembroke
The UNC Pembroke men’s soccer team will host an indoor soccer tournament for ages 10-18 from Jan. 12-17. A $200 entry fee is due along with the application by Jan. 9 with the teams being accepted on a first paid basis only. The format of the tournament secures each team three matches with a preliminary round robin format with teams advancing into semifinals and finals. Five players and a keeper are allowed for U10-U14 teams with U16-U18 teams playing with four players and a goalie. Basic Fly-Fishing Clinics
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will offer a basic, one-day fly-=fishing clinic Jan. 2, Jan. 16 and Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville. The Joan Wulff method of fly-casting will be taught along with instruction on fly-fishing equipment and knot-tying. The clinic is opened to ages 13 and up (ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult). Each clinic is limited to 40 participants. The fee is $5, payable on the day of the event. Intermediate Fly-Fishing Clinic
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will offer a one-day fly fishing clinic on Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville. The clinic will introduce participants to line-hand, false casting, casting on all planes and the shooting line. The clinic is opened to ages 13 and up (ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult). The clinic is limited to 30 participants. The fee is $5, payable on the day of the event. Register at ncwildlife.org.

Boy Scout Fly-Fishing Clinic
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will offer a two-day fly fishing merit badge clinic Feb. 27-28 at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville. Youth Basketball Open Gym in Selma
The Selma Parks and Recreation Department is offering open gym for boys and girls (grades K-12) at Selma Elementary.
