A driver has been charged in the death of a pedestrian who was hit in a crosswalk the night of Oct. 15 along Davis Drive in west Cary.
Steve Biddy, 52, of Cary is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, Cary police said in a news release Friday. Biddy was driving a Honda Ridgeline truck when he hit Wei Ming Yang, 62, of China, as he was crossing Caviston Way at Davis Drive about 7:30 p.m., according to a police report. Wei was taken to Duke University Medical Center, where he died.
Biddy also is charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said he was not impaired at the time of the crash. He could face up to 150 days in jail if convicted of the misdemeanor death charge. A court date has not been set. From Staff Reports
