Student joins honors organization

Alex Michael Calloway of Cary joined Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at Appalachian State University.

Student joints Army marching band

Jennifer Heiden, a student at Green Hope High School, was chosen to join the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band in November. The band will perform at halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

Photo essay competition

The Cary Photographic Artists will sponsor a photo essay competition for Wake County students in ninth through 12th grade. Cash prizes range from $50 to $150, and the competition will end with an exhibit. For details, go to bit.ly/1kTh4U4. ‘IMProv’

Cary High School students will present “IMProv” shows monthly through May. Shows start at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 638 Walnut St., Cary. Voice of Democracy Program
