Cary police haven’t released cause of death of teen found in Amberly pond

Police said Thursday that they’re awaiting a report from the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death of a 19-year-old woman whose body was found submerged in a pond in the Amberly subdivision in West Cary.

They did not indicate when the report would be available. Cary police Capt. Randall Rhyne said Tuesday in a news release that there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Aliza Wanda Webb, 19, was found in a pond near Brookhill Way and Yates Store Road, according to Rhyne. Webb lived on Northlands Drive, not far from the pond.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Webb’s family at this very tragic time,” Rhyne said Tuesday night.
