Arts Notes: Sept. 24

Call for artists

The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is accepting applications from artists through Tuesday, Sept. 30. The council is also seeking donations of classes, lessons or camps that teach any art form. The art will be sold in the third annual Benefit Art Auction on Saturday, Nov. 15. Artists will recieve 50 percent of proceeds, and the remaining proceeds will support the arts council’s programs. Cary Photographic Artists seeks participants

The Cary Photographic Artists are looking for entries for the seventh annual open juried photographic exhibition from Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Dec. 19, at the Cary Senior Center, 120 Maury Odell Place. There will be cash prizes. All artwork must be delivered by hand, with a $25 entry fee. For details, go to www.caryphotographicartists.org.

Art exhibit and sale

Draft Line Brewing will host an art exhibit and sale from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at 341 Broad St., suite 151, Fuquay-Varina. Artists are invited to participate with a $60 entry fee by Friday, Oct. 3. Artists will need to bring their own tables and chairs, and 25 booth spaces are available. All entry fees will be given to the Pretty in Pink Foundation, an organization that supports breast cancer patients. ‘Wait Until Dark’

Cary Players Community Theatre will present “Wait Until Dark” from Friday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $18 for seniors and students at the Cary Arts Center or www.caryplayers.org. ‘Close to Home’

The Raleigh Symphony Orchestra will present “Close to Home,” works by Raleigh composers, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Pickin’ in the Pines Bluegrass Series

The annual Pickin’ in the Pines Bluegrass Series of concerts continues from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 1 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary. Holly Springs Community Band Fall Concert

Seven O’Clock Rock Series

Cary’s Seven O’Clock Rock Series of free dance lessons and concerts will be on the corner of Academy and Chatham streets. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m., and concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Here’s the schedule:

‘Gravid’

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will accept submissions for the art show “Gravid” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Artists must be 18 or older, and there is a $5 fee for each entrant. Artwork will be on display from Friday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Nov. 21, with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. ‘A Sousa Spectacular’
