Tobacco Road Marathon & Half-Marathon

The Allscripts Tobacco Road Marathon and GNC Half Marathon will begin at 7 a.m. on Brooks Park Lane at Thomas Brooks Park, 9008 Green Level Church Road. The runs go along the American Tobacco Trail and are USA Track & Field certified.

Registration for the half marathon is sold out. Registration for the marathon costs $110. Proceeds go to charities, including Juvenile Diabetes, Wounded Warriors and the American Red Cross. For details and registration, go to www.tobaccoroadmarathon.com.

Children’s author appearance

Lincoln Peirce, author of the children’s series and comic strip featuring Big Nate, will sign books at 3 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary.
