Five lanes would make road safer
The Cary Town Council recently decided not to add bike lanes to North Harrison Avenue. I have been following the issue, and it seemed like a lot of Cary citizens wanted to keep the road the same – with four lanes, and not make the change to two travel lanes and bike lanes.
Has anyone considered doing a five-lane striping with a center left-turn lane, two car lanes and two bike lanes?
Left turns now block the center lanes, and people whip into the right lane to get around the turning vehicles. The five-lane striping would cause fewer drivers to abruptly shift lanes and make everyone’s travel safer.
