A Durham man has been charged with murder in the stabbing of a Graham man early Monday after an argument near the intersection of East Pettigrew Street and Colfax Street.
Durham police investigators say they have arrested Jeffrey Morton, 43, of Durham and charged him with murder and aggravated assault. He is in being held without bond at Durham County Jail.
Officers responding to a stabbing call at 12:09 a.m. found 37-year-old Austin Barnes of Graham stabbed to death near the intersection, Durham police said.
His brother, 39-year-old David Barnes of Durham, also had been stabbed but was able to drive himself to a hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
