A Durham woman died early Sunday morning when the SUV she was trying to exit was struck and rolled over, Durham police reported.
Beverly Bennett, 51, who was a passenger in a 2006 Ford Expedition, was declared dead at the scene, according to a police department news release. The woman's daughter, Connie Shanae Bennett, 35, was the driver of the SUV.
The Expedition was on the shoulder of the 1200 block of Midland Terrace with a flat tire, when it was struck by a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant driven by the victim's son Corey Bennett, 29, police reported. The son had arrived to help his mother and sister.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at 2:02 a.m., police said.
The accident remains under investigation, police said. No further information is available.
