Deputies: Husband kills wife, self in Clayton domestic argument

A Johnston County man fatally shot his wife and then killed himself at their home near Clayton on Monday night while their sons were at a neighbors asking for help because of an argument that preceded the killings, authorities said.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. to 119 Bentley Way in the Creeks at Millstone subdivision, where Jennifer L. and Michael L. Summers lived, Capt. Tammy Amoan said.

They found 45-year-old Jennifer and 46-year-old Michael dead in a bedroom where their sons had heard them arguing, Amoan said.

Investigators determined that Michael Summers killed his wife and himself because of a domestic dispute, she said.

Family members took the boys, who are 11 and 15 years old, Amoan said.
