Chamber to hold annual meeting
The Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at The Farm, 215 Batten Road, Selma. The chamber will present its yearly awards, including Citizen of the Year. The cost is $32 per person and includes dinner. Thrift shop to benefit Wounded Warrior Project
Community Treasure, a nonprofit thrift store, has opened at 11155 U.S. 70 Business in Clayton. Proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays.
The Small Business Center at Johnston Community College has scheduled the following free seminars:
“How to Streamline Tax Prep for Your Small Business,” 6-9 p.m. Jan. 26 in Room 1032 at the Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton.
“How to Start a Small Business,” 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 27 in Room 1032 at the Workforce Development Center.
Also, the college offers entrepreneurship training online.
