“It was so crazy for us; we were not expecting it at all,” Allen said. “We were against a lot of other Periscopers that have amazing content. We were completely surprised when they called out our name.”
Periscoper of the Year is a new category because of the newness of the platform. Periscope is an app that allows users to stream live content to followers in real-time. Allen and Brand use Periscope to give impromptu concerts from their living room. Their early and enthusiastic use of the app caught the eye of the people at Periscope, who invited Season & Snare to their annual conference this past year. To date, the band has more than 19,000 Periscope followers.
“It was a humbling experience being there around all these celebrities that we see on TV and people that have gotten so much recognition from the Internet,” Allen said. “It still seems like a dream.”
The band released an EP titled “Seek” earlier this year, and Allen hinted that more music and more surprise releases are on the way. “The new music is going to be a thank-you to our fans and everyone who voted for us in the Shorty Awards and has supported us,” he said.
