Couple robbed at gunpoint in Orange County home, deputies say

A couple was held at gunpoint and robbed in their home near Hillsborough, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

The couple apparently was not injured, but the robber made off with money and personal belongings, deputies said in a statement asking anyone with information that could help investigators to contact authorities.

Deputies were sent to the house on Old N.C. 86 shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, Investigator Chan McDade, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said.

Deputies said they did not think the robbery was a random crime, but they did not elaborate.

They asked anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 919-644-3050.
