An addiction counselor from Chapel Hill won a $1 million prize in a N.C. Education Lottery game, though she'll take home much less than that.
Linda Hammock bought the winning $20 scratch-off ticket at Calvander Food Mart on Dairyland Road in Chapel Hill.
Hammock could choose to take the prize in 20 annuity payments of $50,000 or a one-time payment of $600,000. She opted for the lump sum, which came to $415,206 after state and federal taxes.
