Chinese visitor killed in pedestrian accident in Cary

A 64-year-old man visiting from China died at Duke University Hospital from injuries suffered when he was hit by a vehicle while walking across a Davis Drive intersection Wednesday evening, officials said Thursday.

A Honda Ridgeline pickup truck hit Wei Ming Yang about 7:30 p.m. while turning right from Caviston Way onto Davis Drive, police said.

Traffic safety investigators had not completed their report Thursday morning, but said charges against the Honda driver, Steve Biddy, 52, of Cary, were being discussed with the Wake County District Attorney’s office.

They did not disclose the charges.

Wei was visiting family in Cary, officials said.

Lanes of both roads were closed for a time after the accident.
