Man charged twice in one night with DWI on same Raleigh street

A Raleigh man was held in jail in Wake County on Monday morning after the same police officer charged him with driving while impaired Sunday night on Glenwood Avenue and again about four hours later in the same place.

Robin Dale Miller, 42, had been stopped by Officer W. B. Tapscott in the 7800 block of Glenwood Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Miller, of 10861 Hamilton Club Drive, was charged with DWI, processed through the Wake County Detention Center and released. His driver’s license was revoked as part of the DWI arrest process, officials said.

At 2:19 a.m., Tapscott said in arrest papers, Miller returned to his 2002 Chrysler while still impaired and tried to drive it away from where it had been left on Glenwood Avenue.

Tapscott charged him with DWI a second time and with driving after his license had been revoked in a DWI case.

Paperwork from the second arrest said Miller had shown a blood alcohol content of 0.08, the threshhold for DWI, when arrested the second time.

A magistrate set Miller’s bail at $5,000 when he was brought to the detention center the second time.
