A freshman from Raleigh was found dead this week in her dorm room at Appalachian State University in Boone.
Mary Catherine Johnson, 19, was found in her room Monday at Appalachian PanHellenic Hall. The university said in a statement that no foul play is suspected.
“Police have no evidence to suggest there is any threat to the university community,” the statement said.
Campus police are looking into the death and awaiting a medical examiner’s report, according to the university.

This is the fourth death of an Appalachian State student this school year, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. Foul play isn’t expected in any of them, the newspaper said.
Johnson is survived by her parents, Mike and Paula Johnson; a sister, Caroline Johnson; and three brothers, Bradford Johnson, Cameron Johnson and wife, Sarah, and Parker Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.
