Raleigh man dies from injuries in S. New Hope Road crash

One person died Sunday from injuries suffered when another car crossed the center line on S. New Hope Road and the two vehicles collided head-on.

Terrance Tyreek Smallwood, 22, was driving a Hyundai Sonata northbound on New Hope Road before 6:40 a.m. Sunday, when a a Dodge Stratus driven southbound by Latisha Dixon, 33, towards Rock Quarry Road crossed the center line and collided head-on with Smallwood’s car.

Both Dixon, of 4116 Mindspring Drive, and Smallwood, of 6300 Shandra Drive, were taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where Smallwood died as a result of his injuries. Dixon suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Raleigh Police Department.

Dixon has been charged with Driving While Impaired.
