Police charge 2 in Southeast Raleigh shooting that killed 1, injured 2

RALEIGH

Police have charged two people in connection with a shooting in Southeast Raleigh on Thursday afternoon that left one man dead and two injured.

Elaton Omar White Jr. , 24 and James Keavon McCallum, 16, have been charged with murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to a statement from Raleigh police.

Tauquez Elfthaniel Mann, 20, was killed in the shooting, which took place about 3:15 p.m. on Bowman Lane, a short, dead-end residential street off Rock Quarry Road.

When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. The men were taken to WakeMed. A third man was taken to WakeMed in a private vehicle.

Police say they arrested White and McCallum after they fled from a vehicle that had been shot at on Interstate 40 near Gorman Street at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The driver of the vehicle was wounded and ran off the road. The driver and a passenger were taken to WakeMed for treatment, while police say White and McCallum fled to the 1500 block of Main Campus Drive, from where they were also taken to WakeMed.
