Two drivers were surprised to find bullet holes in their cars Wednesday night after having driven through an area where police had a report of shots being fired, police said.
A little before 8 p.m., dispatchers had sent officers to check on a report of shots being heard in the vicinity of Cross Link and Rock Quarry roads.
Those officers could not find any evidence of shooting.
When two people called later to report that they found their cars had been damaged, apparently by bullets, police asked where they had been earlier and found they were in the Cross Link/Rock Quarry area.
Who shot and why remained a mystery, however. No one was hurt.
