Police and animal control officers think they’ve caught an aggressive fox that bit a woman on Courtland Drive in Mordecai late Tuesday morning and may have chased a jogger on the same street.
The search took all afternoon. Police urged people who live on or near the 1400 block of Courtland Drive, off Wake Forest Road, to remain indoors until the fox could be located.
The animal will be tested to determine if it is rabid.
The woman told an emergency dispatcher that the fox bit her on her lower leg before heading toward Wake Forest Road, according to a recording of the call released by police.
Police said the fox also bit the shoe of a child in the 1400 block of Wake Forest Road. The child was not injured.
Despite the fox’s capture, police urged residents of the area to remain on the alert over the coming days in case other aggressive and potentially diseased animals are nearby.
