Boy on bike hit by car at Raleigh intersection

A 12-year-old boy on a bike failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit Tuesday night at the intersection of East Millbrook Road and Sweetbriar Drive, police said.

Marshaun Williams was taken to WakeMed Raleigh hospital with what police said appeared to be serious injuries. His condition was not available Wednesday morning.

The accident happened about 8:30 p.m., police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Marshaun was going north on Sweetbriar and rode into the East Millbrook intersection in front of an eastbound Toyota sedan, according to an accident report released by police Wednesday afternoon. The car was going 33 mph when it hit the boy, according to the report.

The driver of the car, Mustapha Sowe, 40, of 1504 Quail Ridge Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and arrested on a warrant charging him with assault on a female in a June 7 incident, records showed.

Sowe was not charged in connection with the accident, police said.
