Boy, 7, shot in home northeast of Raleigh

The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting of a child in a home in the 4200 block of Ferriday Court off Castlegate Drive northeast of Raleigh.

The Wake County sheriff's office responded to a call at 6:16 p.m., and deputies were told that the victim, a 7-year-old boy, had been taken by private vehicle to Wake Med North, a sheriff's office spokesman said.

The boy was later taken to Duke Hospital in Durham, the spokesman said.

Three other children, ages 10, 4 and 7 months, were at the home when the shooting occurred, along with the victim's 41-year-old mother and two other people, ages 21 and 17.

No other details were available.
