Town officials on Friday released the names of a woman and her 3-year-old son who died in a home in the Heritage subdivision a week ago.
Kristy Marie Bryan, 39, and her son Tyler W. Bryan were found dead in the family’s burning home on Roles Saddle Drive on the morning of Dec. 11. Tyler’s twin brother, whose name has not been released, was taken to the burn center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill with critical injuries.
Soon after the fire was extinguished, Rolesville Police Chief Bobby W. Langston II said it was “suspicious,” but authorities have not said what made it so. They say their investigation into the incident continues.
In a statement Friday, Mayor Frank Eagles asked for the public’s patience.

“We want to continue to assure the public that the Rolesville Police Department is doing everything in their power, along with the assistance of the District Attorney’s office, to expedite the case but still preserve its integrity,” Eagles said. “We want to make sure that all the facts are straight before making any further comment.”
Authorities have not said whether Kristy Bryan’s husband, Derek Bryan, was at home at the time of the fire, but they have said he was cooperating with the investigation. The couple’s other child, a 6-year-old daughter, was at school when the fire started.
