A Delta Airlines flight headed to New York City from Tampa, Fla., landed at Raleigh-Durham International Airport instead after a fire forced pilots to shut down one of the two engines on the Boeing 717-200, officials said.
Delta 2135 left Tampa at 7:40 a.m. headed to LaGuardia Airport, according to the aircraft-tracking website Flightaware.com. It set down without incident at 9:34 a.m. at RDU and taxied to a gate under its own power.
Emergency responders had been told that the plane had 101 people aboard.
