Raleigh police charge man with abusing 3-month-old girl

A 25-year-old Raleigh man has been charged with causing a brain injury and a retinal hemorrhage to his 3-month-old daughter just over a month ago.

Police arrested Elliot Douglas Craig of 818 Chatham Lane on Monday afternoon, records showed.

An arrest warrant charged Craig with intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury and said it happened Oct. 10.

Police were called in when doctors at WakeMed Hospital found that the girl’s injuries were consistent with being shaken.

Detectives charged Craig after conferring with the Wake County District Attorney’s office, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Craig was held in lieu of $500,000 bail and was scheduled for a Wednesday court appearance.
