Man, 29, killed during robbery, Durham police say

A man found shot to death in a house on Rosewood Street on Tuesday night was killed during a robbery, Durham police said Wednesday.

Officers who were sent to a call about gunshots at a house at 1300 Rosewood St., near N.C. Central University, found Shareef Abdul Muhammad dead, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

Detective determined that Muhammad was killed during a robbery attempt by two men who wore hoodies and carried guns when they forced their way into the house, Michael said.

Police did not disclose whether the two suspects got anything from the people in the house.

Officers got the shooting call at 10:36 p.m., police said. Muhammad was pronounced dead at the scene.

The house is between East Lawson and Dayton streets, a block east of the university campus.
