A Raleigh man was being held on $200,000 bail Tuesday on charges that he grabbed a woman at a bus stop near North Carolina State University, chased her after she broke free and tried to drag her away after she fell down.
Tseghay Teame Ghebretsadkcq, 26, of 2932 Ligon St. was arrested by police who had a report of a woman calling for help about 6:20 a.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Hillsborough Street, between Brooks Avenue and Gardner Street.
People who saw what was happening hurried to help the woman, and the man attacking her fled, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Police found Ghebretsadkan a short distance away and arrested him after a struggle during which an officer used a Taser stun gun to subdue him, Sughrue said.
The woman was not hurt, police said.
Ghebretsadkan was charged with second-degree kidnapping, assault on a female and resisting police.
